Also, note that there are specific regulations for certificates issued in non-EU countries, see here.
Please also note that University of Vienna is an attendance university no distance learning university.
The next step would be to find a supervisor (potential supervisors of the DSE here, then enrollment and becoming a member in the DSE.

What are the preconditions for a funding application at DSE?
Obviously, you have to be a DSE Fellow ;)
We accept applications only after the FÖP and, if applicable, when all the annual reports have been submitted. For the new Fellows, they should do their TAC meetings at least once a year.
In short: Be a good doctoral student! :)

When I don't study Biwi but something else, will my Curricula or the PhD title change when I enroll in the DSE?
No. You study your curriculum and will receive the title named in your curriculum. If your curriculum is not yet to study in the DSE, please let us know and we will try to make it work. So far, we have these curricula in the DSE.

All the administrative documents (like the dissertation agreement, annual reports, etc.) have to be sent to Martina Authried (sss.bildungswissenschaft@univie.ac.at) with Stephanie Fox (dse@univie.ac.at) in CC.
All forms for funding and concerning the TACs have to be sent to Stephanie Fox only.

I need help. Where can I ask?
If you are a DSE Fellow and your question concerns the DSE or your study, you can always get in touch with your Spokesperson or your Coordinator.
If you have any other problems, issues or concerns, please have a look here.
-
Are there any scholarships or fully funded positions open at the DSE?
No, not at the moment. Potential open positions in the future will be publicly advertised.
-
Do I need a second supervisor?
A second supervisor is very helpful in most cases. If you are in an early phase of your PhD (first or second year), it makes definitely sense to look for a second supervisor (obligatory). If you are in a later stage (year three and four), you don't have to get a second supervisor unless you want it, of course. Then: Go for it!
-
Can anyone become a doctoral fellow of the DSE?
Anyone is welcome to apply. However, the DSE management reserves the right to reject applications.
-
What can be funded by the DSE and how?
The fundamental policy of the DSE is “bottom up”, i.e. we try to support everything that a group of DSE Fellows wants or needs and then (co-)organizes itself. This can be the organization of conferences, guest lectures, workshops, summer/winter schools, etc. (Of course, more experienced people such as postdocs or professors can or should also be involved in the organization of larger events). The focus is always on the doctoral fellows of the DSE.
Other funding opportunities also concern research stays or presentations at scientific conferences.
All documents and further information can be found here.
-
How can I terminate my membership of the DSE?
To end your membership in the DSE, simply send an email to Stephanie Fox and announce the end of your membership.
