Refine your academic writing skills or explore art-based research methodologies!

We are pleased to invite doctoral students to participate in a series of engaging and hands-on workshops with Dr. Dawn Sanders (University of Gothenburg), taking place from April 14th–17th, 2024. These workshops provide a unique opportunity to refine academic writing skills and explore art-based research methodologies. 

 

 

Academic Writing (Workshop I) 

 

When: Monday, April 14 & Tuesday, April 15 

09:00 – 15:00 with lunchbreak 

Who: Limited to 5 participants per day 

Where: tba 

This interactive writing workshop is designed for doctoral students currently engaged in writing their thesis chapters, journal articles, or conference abstracts. Participants will receive individualized feedback and practical guidance on: 

     

  • Refining their academic voice, clarity, and cohesion 
  •  

  • Structuring arguments and improving writing flow 
  •  

  • Enhancing readability, creating strong introductions 

Depending on the applications, there might be two focus groups, e.g. one for journal one for thesis chapter.

We will consider all applications submitted by Thursday, the 10th, and responses will be sent by Friday afternoon. Please also indicate your availability on Monday or Tuesday and, if applicable, your preferred day.

Art-Based Research & Visual Methods (Workshop II) 

 

When: Wednesday, April 16; 09:00-12:00 

Who: Open to all doctoral students and researchers 

Where: tba 

This seminar introduces participants to art-based research—an interdisciplinary approach that integrates artistic methods (visual arts, performance, storytelling, etc.) into academic inquiry. The session will cover: 

     

  • Key methodologies in art-based research 
  •  

  • How creative approaches can enhance research communication 
  •  

  • Practical examples from sciences and humanities 
  •  

 

This workshop is ideal for those interested in non-traditional ways of engaging with research and exploring the intersection of science, education, and the arts
